Mission Location: Dumas TX
Description:
CAMA-C deployed multiple times on a supercell that formed W of Channing TX and subsequently moved NE and then E toward Dumas. CAMA deployed with DOW7 and documented the early evolution of the storm. At low levels, a well defined wall cloud was observed and at times, extended to the ground, consistent with radar observations of strong, broad rotation at low levels. No funnels were observed during CAMA’s first deployment. CAMA then moved eastward with the storm and deployed a second time SE of Dumas. Again, a well-defined wall cloud was observed, often extending to the ground, but no funnel was observed.
CAMB deployed with DOW 6 twice. During their first deployment south of Dumas, a possible funnel was observed from 23:43 – 23:45 UTC. Other teams reported funnels S and NE of Dumas. Otherwise, CAMB also noted strong, broad low-level rotation during their deployments.
CAMC also documented strong, broad low-level rotation. No persistent, well-defined funnels were observed by this team.
HD video was collected by all three teams.
