Consistent with the mission of Lyndon State College, VIAM is focused on providing experiential learning opportunities for our students. Our students are engaged in solving real problems, whether it’s forecasting road weather conditions in Vermont’s complex terrain, or determining the statistical significance of United State temperatures and the Madden Julian Oscillation. These experiences help students learn course concepts, and better equip them for their transition to the job place.
When you work with VIAM, you are part of an important teaching and learning process, helping to prepare the next generation of meteorologists and atmospheric scientists.
Our educational mission also involves sharing our expertise with the broader community. VIAM can freely provide some weather data and answer basic weather and climate questions. We offer other direct learning opportunities through online classes, and we can arrange educational school visits to the local community.
