Absorption of longwave emitted by the earth - Beers Law
LW radiation reaching the satellite is a combination of radiation emitted by the earth and atmosphere. Atmospheric gasses and clouds absorb and then reemitt radiation to the satellite.
The amount of absorption of radiation by a gas is given by beers law:
