Bistatic Radars - Introduction 1) The network is comprised of a single transmitter (like an 88-D) 2) At a specific point is space, the transmitted radiation is scattered in many directions (blue and purple arrows). 3) Bistatic receivers measure the spectral power and Doppler shift of the radiation at many places around the storm. 4) This Geometry allows for "mutiple" looks at a particular point in space allowing for the retrieval of the 3-D wind field. 5) This is similar to using two or more radars to get two or more radial velocity estimates at one point. |
