Simulating different convective modes

Lab Overview:

The purpose of this lab is to further explore how the vertical wind shear profile affects the resultant convective mode produced with a 3-D cloud model.

After receiving instructions on how to use the model:

1. Create soundings that you feel will simulate the following.  Also, make sure that the wind profile you create will keep the simulated storm in the center of the domain.  In other words, the simulated storm motion should be 0 m/s.

    

   • Ordinary cell
   • symmetric left and right moving supercells
   • right moving supercell
   • multi-cell squall line
   • bow echo

    

2. For each simulation, save the sounding and plot and save the hodograph.  Also save illustrative graphics that show the type of convective mode produced with the sounding.
