Earth's energy balance

• We have argued that since T_e is approximately constant, then the earth is in radiative equilibrium

• In other words, radiation from the sun = radiation emitted by the earth

• Q: How are:

  • radiation from the sun

  • radiation emitted by the earth

  distributed over the globe from the SP to the NP??????
